Bremer Hut

Bremer Hut at 2413 m above sea level is one of the most famous stage huts on the Stubaier High Route. The DAV Hut, operated by the Bremen Section of the German Alpine Club, is located in one of the quieter side valleys of the Stubai Valley and offers an excellent combination of alpine comfort and scenic beauty.

Location and Atmosphere

The hut is situated in a wide high valley with a free view of the surrounding three-thousanders. The terrain at this height is still characterized by alpine meadows and small lakes – the high mountain zone begins only above the hut. This creates an atmosphere that is more accessible than at the highest altitude huts, without losing the alpine experience.

The Bremer Hut is a typical meeting point for multi-day hikers: people from all over Europe come together here, often after a long high-altitude hiking day, and share experiences and routes. The community in the evening is part of the character of this hut.

Kitchen and Accommodation

The hut’s kitchen is oriented towards the classic Tyrolean hut cuisine: hearty stews, goulash, cheese spaetzle, and soups. The portions are generous – after a hiking day on the high route, just right. Overnight guests can enjoy half board.

Accommodation consists of multi-bed rooms and mattress lodges. During the peak season, the hut is well frequented – advance reservation is recommended.

Approach / Ascent

The ascent to the Bremer Hut can take place from various starting points in the Stubai Valley. The most frequent route starts from a car park in the valley head and leads over a well-marked hiking trail; ascent time approx. 2.5 to 3.5 hours. The terrain is not technically difficult, but conditionally demanding.

The hut is also accessible via the Stubaier High Route as a stage between other support points.

• Stubai High Route: The Bremer Hut is one of the central stages of this long-distance hiking route
• Dresdner Hut: Approximately 5-6 hours away via the high route
• Innsbrucker Hut: Further stage in the direction of north, approximately 5 hours
• Summit Tours: Several three-thousanders in the immediate surroundings, partially accessible without glacier equipment

Tips

• Stubai High Route: For those who want to hike the entire high route, it is recommended to plan at least 5-6 days
• Advance reservation: Particularly in the summer holidays and on weekends, strongly recommended
• Condition: The high route is not a leisurely stroll – good basic condition assumed
• Equipment: For easier summit tours, sturdy hiking boots are sufficient; for three-thousanders, bring crampons

The Bremer Hut combines the best of the Stubaier High Route: alpine scenery, good nourishment, and the special community that only forms on multi-day hiking trails.
