The Marend Stüberl, located at 1,200 meters, is dedicated to the concept of the traditional Tyrolean “Marend” – the afternoon break with snacks, which has its own tradition in rural Tyrol. The small Stüberl is neither a restaurant nor a classic hut, but a place for an informal refreshment with a cup of coffee and a snack.

What is a Marend?

In Tyrol, the “Marend” (from Latin “merenda”, snack) is the afternoon break – usually between 2 pm and 5 pm. Speck, cheese, bread, and a glass of wine or cider are the classic components. The Marend Stüberl has elevated this ritual to a concept.

Location and Atmosphere

The Stüberl is located in the lower Stubaital valley at an easily accessible height. The location is cozy and tranquil – no panoramic views, but a place that invites you to linger. The interior is warm and panelled with wood, the terrace offers a calm view of the valley.

The atmosphere is the opposite of bustling: here you sit down, slowly drink coffee, and eat what the season provides.

Menu

Tyrolean snack with bacon and cheese, fresh country bread, homemade spreads, cider, and coffee. The kitchen offers no large main dishes, but the best snack in the area. Seasonal, homemade cakes and strudel are also available.

Getting There / Ascending

Short walking distance from towns in the lower Stubaital valley, about 15 to 30 minutes. Also easily accessible by public transportation.
