The Neue Regensburger Hütte on 2,286 m is the highest accessible hut in Pinnistal – and a quiet starting point for some of the most beautiful high-altitude tours in Stubaital. High up above Pinnisalm, on a broad alpine meadow with a view of the Kalkkögel Massif and Serles, this DAV-Hütte of the Regensburg section is a calmer counterpart to Franz-Senn-Hütte in Oberbergtal.
Location and Atmosphere
Pinnistal is one of the quietest valleys in Stubaital – and the Neue Regensburger Hütte lies in its upper part, at a spot where the valley widens and the view of the surrounding summits unfolds. The hut is located off the main high-altitude routes and is therefore less frequented than Sulzenau or Franz-Senn.
Anyone who arrives here has really finished the ascent – and that’s something you feel. The peace in the evening, when the day’s guests have descended, is the best argument for an overnight stay.
Cuisine
Classic hut food: soups, main courses, bread and cheese platter, Kaiserschmarrn. Half board for overnight guests. The kitchen is solid and geared towards hiking guests – no surprises, but no disappointments either.
Accommodation
50 beds in mattress bunks – a smaller hut that is popular with groups and families with mountain experience. Prior registration under +43 664 1039850 is recommended. The capacity is limited, the experience is accordingly personal.
Approach / Ascent
From Parking lot Pinnisbach (Neustift): The standard ascent leads through Pinnistal, past Pinnisalm, then steeper uphill to the hut – approximately 4 hours, 950 meters in altitude.
Tip: Pinnisalm is a good halfway point. Those who start early can make a stop there and relaxingly ascend to the hut.
Combination Possibilities
- Serles (2,718 m): The “Holy Mountain of Tyrol” can be reached from the Neue Regensburger Hütte – challenging tour, only for experienced hikers.
- Kalkkögel-Übergang: Connection to the Kalkkögel area – for experienced mountain hikers.
- Pinnistal Loop: Ascent to Neue Regensburger Hütte, descent via an alternative path back into the valley.
Tips
- Early start: The ascent is long – be at the parking lot by 8 am at the latest.
- Summit Tours: Only start in the morning. Leave the Serles summit by 12 pm.
- Equipment: Hiking boots, rain and cold protection, sufficient water (no reliable source from Pinnisalm onwards).
- Best Time: August and early September – all trails snow-free.
The Neue Regensburger Hütte is for those who want to get to know Pinnistal without landing in the mass-tourism machinery of southern Stubaital. Here, Stubaital is still original.
