Schlickeralm

The Schlickeralm on 1,616 m is located in the heart of the Schlick 2000 ski resort over Fulpmes – in the summer a peaceful high-altitude operation with far-reaching views over the middle Stubaital and the Tuxer Voralpen. What is a pistes restaurant in the winter, becomes an ideal hiking alm in the summer: easy access by gondola, broad paths, several alm huts, and a starting point for tours in the Tuxer Alps, which would otherwise only be accessible with great effort.

Location and Atmosphere

Fulpmes is located in the middle Stubaital and is the starting point for the Schlick 2000 area – a ski resort that offers an excellent hiking infrastructure in the summer. The Schlickeralm is located on a broad alm terrace with views to the north into the middle Stubaital and to the Serles in the east. The atmosphere is relaxed: no glacier tourists, no high-altitude climbers – a public that wants to hike and enjoy.

The terrain around the alm is ideal for children: broad paths, no breaks, enough space to play. The alm meadows with grazing cattle and sheep make the stay a natural experience.

Cuisine

The Schlickeralm offers a solid Tyrolean alm cuisine: platter, kaserspätzle, soups, cakes. No gourmet cuisine – but honest alm food in a relaxed atmosphere. The sun terrace with the broad wooden benches is the centerpiece. Vegetarian options are available.

Those who have already paid for the gondola ticket are well off here: the alm is directly at the mountain station, no additional meter of trail necessary.

Arrival / Ascent

By Gondola (Schlick 2000): Mountain station directly at the Schlickeralm – access without height loss. The gondola runs daily in the summer season, check exact times before departure.

On foot: From Fulpmes town center approximately 1,300 m of altitude gain on marked trails – approximately 3.5 hours. Alternatively: gondola up, hike back down (approximately 2 hours descent).

Parking: Parking lot at the gondola valley in Fulpmes, payable in the season.

Combination Options

• Cross Saddle (2,136 m): From the Schlickeralm in approximately 1.5 hours to the marked viewpoint – one of the most beautiful views in the middle Stubaital.
• Far-ranging in the Tuxer Alps: From the mountain station, paths lead deep into the Tuxer Voralpen – for experienced hikers with map or GPS.
• Alm Circuit: A well-marked circuit connects the Schlickeralm with other alms in the Schlick area – approximately 3 hours, easy to medium.

Tips

• Gondola Timing: In the high season, there may be wait times on beautiful weekends. Start early.
• Dogs: On leashes on alm meadows – cattle and sheep are sensitive to unleashed dogs.
• Child-friendliness: The Schlickeralm is one of the most family-friendly destinations in the Stubaital – broad paths, short paths, play area.
• Best Travel Time: July and August for full alm opening and best mountain weather.
