Winnebachseehütte

Winnebachseehütte sits at 2.362 m above the Winnebachsee in the Sellraintal – one of the quietest side valleys in Tyrol, directly adjacent to the Stubaital. Those who know the Stubaital and seek something less known, are exactly right here.

Location and Character

The Sellraintal is less well-known than the Stubaital – and that is its greatest advantage. No glacier gondolas, no ski circus, little tourism. The Winnebachsee lies on a quiet alpine terrasse below the mountain ridges – clear water, rocks, and a far view.

The hut is a real DAV base for multi-day tours: well-maintained, small capacity, friendly crowd.

Access

From Gries in the Sellrain (lower Sellraintal, ca. 1,580 m): Ascent via the Winnebach, ca. 2.5 hours, 780 Hm. The way is well marked, no climbing passages.

From Innsbruck to the Sellraintal: Ca. 40 minutes over the B171 and Pfaffenhofen to Gries.

Combination with Stubaital

Drive time from the Stubaital (Neustift) to the Sellrain ca. 45 minutes via Innsbruck. Well combinable for visitors who want to spend two or three days in the region and experience the quiet counterpart to the frequently visited Stubaital.
