The Franz-Senn-Hütte (2.149 m) is more than just a hut. It’s a piece of Alpine history, the starting point for the most challenging tours in the Stubaier Alpen, and at the same time one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in the Stubaital, which can also be reached by less experienced hikers.
Who was Franz Senn?
Franz Senn (1831–1884) was a priest in Vent (Ötztal) and is considered one of the founders of organized Alpine mountaineering in Tyrol. He was a co-founder of the German Alpine Association (1869) and has made numerous first ascents in the Ötztaler and Stubaier Alpen. The hut named after him is one of the oldest of the DAV-Hüttensystem in the Stubaier Alpen.
