Franz Senn (1831–1884) was a priest in Neustift and one of the most important pioneers of alpine tourism in Tyrol. He founded the German Alpine Association, built huts, and opened routes that today are trodden by hundreds of thousands. The Franz-Senn Trail is the themed trail to his life and work – a short, easy cultural stroll through Neustift.
Why the Franz-Senn Trail?
You should know who you meet while hiking in the Stubai Valley. The huts, the trails, the alpine structures – much of it bears Franz Senn’s handwriting. The themed trail connects historical stations connected to his life and early alpinism, and gives the hiking day in the Stubai Valley a historical framework.
Ideal as a half-day program, as an introduction to the Stubai Valley or for bad weather.
