The Gloatsteig is one of those trails that don’t need a big marketing campaign – it has loyal followers. „Gloat” means in the Stubai dialect as much as smooth, flowing – and that’s exactly how this trail feels: no rugged sections, no surprise falls, but a well-built, quiet path through the forest and over the alpine meadows above Neustift.
Why the Gloatsteig?
Because it’s genuine. No theme trail, no signs pointing to Instagram-worthy motives, no gondola – just the trail, the forest, and the views. Regular visitors to the Stubaital valley often include it in their itinerary: as a warm-up tour, as an evening round, as a counterbalance to demanding summit hikes.
The Gloatsteig is the trail for people who already know they like the Stubaital valley.
