Why this Tour?
Falbeson is located in the upper part of the Stubaital valley, just before the valley’s end. The hamlet is already situated at about 1,000 meters above sea level – a good starting point that saves unnecessary kilometer-long approaches. The Doadler Alm in Falbeson is itself a popular excursion destination and offers a nice starting point with parking and the possibility to take a break.
The Oberhausalm is located at about 1,480 meters above sea level and is a typical Tyrolean mountain hut with seasonal operation. The ascent is steep and direct, with corresponding rewards.
Route Description
Start Doadler Alm Falbeson (approx. 990 m): From the parking lot of the Doadler Alm, follow the forest road towards Oberhausalm. The signposting is in place. The first hundred meters on asphalt, then immediately on gravel.
Steep Ascent (approx. km 0.5–5): Without much introduction, the way goes directly uphill. On the middle section of the route, inclines of 15–18% are not uncommon. Those who can handle muscle power will be challenged here. E-bikers can take the tour at a more leisurely pace, but the motor will definitely feel the difference.
Woodland clearing halfway (approx. km 3): A brief flat stretch through a clearing offers a chance to catch one’s breath. The view of the valley’s head with the Mutterbergalm in the south is beautiful.
Oberhausalm (approx. km 5–8, approx. 1,480 m): The mountain hut is situated on a gentle plateau above the treeline. The panoramic view of the upper Stubaital, the glaciers in the background, and the valley below is breathtaking. The mountain hut offers seasonal refreshments – buttermilk, cheese, bread.
Ascent (back to Falbeson): Back down on the ascent route. The steep sections demand caution on the way down – apply brakes carefully, lean your body backwards.
