The Panoramaweg Elfer traverses the slope above the Elferbahn-Mountain Station – with 450 meters of altitude and one of the widest valley views over the entire Stubaital valley to the Inntal valley.

The Panoramaweg Elfer is not a summit tour – it’s a horizon line. From the Elferbahn-Mountain Station, the path traverses the slope to the west and offers a panorama on nearly the entire route section: Stubaital valley from Schönberg to Neustift, Serles, Kalkögeln, and – on clear days – to the Inntal valley and the Nordkette in Innsbruck.

Why the Panoramaweg?

Because there’s no better view of the Stubaital valley with a more relaxed way to reach it. No extreme inclines, no exposed ridges – just a long, airy horizon path at around 2,000 meters altitude. The path is not the Elfer-Summit Tour (that’s separate), but the Traverse: more laid-back, longer, more panoramic.

Route Description

Elferbahn Mountain Station (ca. 1,900 m): Take the gondola up, then join the Panoramaweg path to the west.

First Panorama Sections (km 0.5-3): The path traverses immediately. View south into the upper Stubaital with glacier panorama.

Middle Section (km 3-6): Altitude profile is mostly uniform. A few short up- and downhills. Scenic viewpoints with benches.

Western End (ca. km 7-9): The path ends either at a mountain hut or can be continued as desired – return to Elferbahn.

Requirements

  • Moderate condition
  • No technical requirements
  • Hiking boots recommended (rocky trails)
  • Dogs allowed

Tips

  • Elferbahn: Operates regularly during summer – check schedules in advance
  • Best Time: June to October
  • Weather: Not recommended on bad-weather days – the panorama is all you need
  • Combination: Add the Elfer-Summit as an extra challenge (approx. 300 meters and 1.5 hours)

The Panoramaweg Elfer is perfect for all who want to gaze far – and prefer to traverse rather than climb.
