Panoramaweg Gletscherblick

The Panoramaweg Gletscherblick Trail takes you to one of the most impressive viewpoints in the Stubai Valley: a free ridge trail above Ranalt, from which the Stubai Glacier directly lies across – big, white, and real. No distant ice field in the distance, but a glacier almost within reach.

Why the Panoramaweg Gletscherblick?

The Stubai Glacier is the heart of the valley – but you can hardly see it from the valley itself. Those who climb up the opposite slopes completely change the perspective. The Panoramaweg Gletscherblick is the direct way to this viewpoint: no cable car, no long ascent drama, just a well-maintained ridge trail with 500 meters of elevation gain.

Trail Description

Start at Ranalt (approx. 1,690 m): From the Grawa Alm / Ranalt car park, follow the marked trail towards the north-facing ridge.

Ascent through the Forest (approx. 1,700–2,000 m): Steep trail through open larch forest. The terrain opens up increasingly.

Open Ridge Section (approx. 2,000–2,200 m): This is where the panorama really begins. The view of the glacier opens up – and stays open until the end of the trail.

Viewpoint Gletscherblick (approx. 2,190 m): The marked viewpoint with the best view. Seating area, take your time.

Return to Ranalt: Same trail back, or return via the Almweg trail.

Requirements

• Moderate to good physical condition
• Sturdy hiking boots recommended (steep ascent)
• Dogs allowed
• No technical terrain

• Early Morning: The glacier glows in the morning light – early start for the best light
• Best Time: July to October
• Combination: Grawa Waterfall on the way back – short detour from Ranalt
• Provisions: No hut, bring your own
