The Rinnenspitze (2,874m) is one of the Seven Summits Stubai – thanks to the Schlick 2000 Gondola easily accessible, but the ridge still challenging and exposed.

Rinnenspitze (2,874 m) is one of the seven peaks of the Seven Summits Stubai Program – and thanks to the Schlick 2000 Gondola, it is the easiest to reach in the lower Stubaital valley. From the Mountan Station Schlick (1,980 m), it takes about 900 meters of elevation gain to reach the summit. However, the Rinnenspitze is no stroll.

Why the Rinnenspitze?

What makes this peak special: You take the Gondola to almost 2,000 m, and from there begins a proper alpine summit tour. The path leads through the Schlicker kar, past the Schlicker Alm, over steep grassy ridges, and finally over an exposed ridge to the summit.

Above: Panoramic view over the Inntal valley, the northern Kalkalpen, and – when weather conditions are favorable – far into the Central Alps.

Route Description

Schlick 2000 Mountain Station (1,980 m): Starting point after Gondola ride. Well signposted towards Schlicker Alm.

Schlicker Alm (ca. 2,060 m): A popular halfway stop, managed. From here, the actual ascent into the kar begins.

Schlicker Kar (ca. 2,200–2,500 m): Wide kar scenery, the path becomes steeper and rockier. Pay close attention to markings.

Summit Ridge (ab ca. 2,700 m): The final section is exposed. Good balance and acrophobia-free are necessary here.

Rinnenspitze (2,874 m): Summit cross, panoramic views, break.

Requirements

  • Good footwork and acrophobia-free
  • Good condition despite Gondola assistance
  • Sturdy hiking boots with profile
  • No dogs – summit ridge too challenging
  • Watch the weather: afternoon thunderstorms possible

Tips

  • Gondola: Schlick 2000 operates daily in summer – check operating hours beforehand
  • Early start from the mountain station: Be there early enough on top, despite Gondola assistance
  • Schlicker Alm: Recommended stop on the way down – homemade cuisine
  • Best time: June to October

The Rinnenspitze combines the comfortable (Gondola) with the genuine (summit ridge) – a successful compromise for alpine conditions in the Seven Summits Program.
