Die MTB Telfer Wiesen Tour is one of the shortest and most relaxing bike tours in the Stubai Valley – and that’s exactly what makes it great. Anyone who doesn’t want to sit in the saddle for hours, but wants to make a nice round trip with a panoramic view in just over an hour and a half, is on the right track. The tour is ideal for families with older children, for the first outing on the rented E-Bike, or as a leisurely warm-up for more challenging tours.
Why this tour?
The Telfer Wiesen lie on a gentle plateau above the valley floor, between Neustift and Telfes. From there, a wonderful view of the middle Stubai Valley, the surrounding villages, and – on clear days – to the glaciers in the south opens up. The ascent is moderate, the road is well drivable, and the round trip means: you’ll always reach the starting point again.
The start directly at the Freizeitzentrum Stubay has a practical advantage: if you need to cool down after the tour, you’ll be in the outdoor pool in just a few minutes. That’s just a great argument with children.
Route Description
Start Freizeitzentrum Stubay (ca. 990 m): From the parking lot of the outdoor and sport center in Neustift, you follow the bike path in the direction of Telfes. The first meters are flat and intended as an introduction.
Ascent to the Telfer Wiesen (ca. km 1–4): The road now rises moderately. The forest roads are well paved and also suitable for standard mountain bikes. If you’re riding an E-Bike, you can stay in the lowest support level. The ascent leads through light mixed forest, with glimpses into the valley.
Telfer Wiesen (ca. km 4–6, ca. 1.250 m): The plateau opens up. Lush alpine meadows, flowers in spring and summer, cows in summer and autumn – and the unobstructed view of the opposite valley side with the Elfer and the Schlick 2000 mountain station. Here, a break is worth it.
Descent to Telfes (ca. km 6–8): On the wide forest road, it goes in a long curve down to Telfes. The descent is easy and also manageable for less experienced riders.
Return Telfes – Neustift (ca. km 8–9.7): On the valley bike path, it goes back to the starting point. The last few kilometers are almost flat – a nice conclusion.
