The Zuckerhütl (3,507m) is the highest of the Seven Summits Stubai – by glacier railway to Eisgrat at 3,160m, then glacier terrain with crampons to the roof of the Stubai Valley.

The Zuckerhütl (3,507 m) is the highest peak of the Stubai Valley and the crown of the Seven Summits Stubai. Thanks to the Stubaier Gletscherbahn glacier railway, one reaches 3,160 m in height – from there, it’s still about 350 meters of glacier terrain to the highest point. Crampons are a must, glacier experience is essential.

Why the Zuckerhütl?

It is the highest of the Seven – and that’s enough argument. Anyone who collects all Seven Summits Stubai often saves the Zuckerhütl for last. The glacier railway takes the long ascent out of the way, but the actual summit ascent over the glacier ice is alpine enough to be respected.

The view from the summit is unparalleled: the entire Stubaier Hauptkamm, the Ötztaler Glacier, and, in clear sight, the Dolomites.

Tips

  • Glacier railway: Check the operating hours of the Stubaier Gletscherbahn glacier railway in advance – limited summer operation possible
