Innsbrucker Hut on 2.369 m is the highest inhabited hut in Stubaital and lies at the end of the Pinnistal, on a high plateau under the Serles massif. Who makes his way up here has left the lower Pinnistal and its quiet pasture landscape behind him and stands in a high-altitude world: rock, ice, wide views and the feeling of being really high up.

Location and Atmosphere

The Innsbrucker Hut lies on a terrain that is characterized by rock steps and alpine pastures – the Pinnistal ends here and offers a view to the Serles North wall. On 2.369 m, the atmosphere is alpine: Who comes here has 1,300 meters of altitude in his legs and plans for the next morning.

The hut is smaller and more personal than the Franz-Senn-Hut or the Nuremberg Hut – 70 sleeping places, manageable, cozy. The hut keepers know the surroundings inside out.

Cuisine

Complete hut provision: lunch kitchen for day guests, half-board for overnight guests. Tyrolean cuisine, generous portions. Breakfast is geared towards an early departure – hot dishes from 6 am for summit aspirants.

Overnigt

70 sleeping places in mattress and multiple-bedroom rooms. Prior reservation required under +43 5226 3248. The hut is often fully booked – especially in July and August. Book early.

Access / Ascent

From Parking Lot Pinnisbach (Neustift): The ascent through the Pinnistal is long but well-marked – about 5 hours, 1,300 meters of altitude. Stopover at the Pinnisalm (1.369 m) and Neuen Regensburger Hut (2.286 m) possible.

Note: This is one of the most challenging day ascents in Stubaital – not suitable for inexperienced hikers.

Combination Possibilities

  • Serles (2,718 m): From the hut, the direct ascent to the “Holy Mountain of Tyrol” – about 1.5 hours, only for sure-footed.
  • Kalkkögel-Übergang: Connection to the Kalkkögel area – for experienced mountain hikers with a map.
  • Pinnistal-Durchquerung: Combining with overnigt on the Pinnisalm in the ascent or descent.

Tips

  • Frühstart ob Pflicht: No later than 7 am at the parking lot – the ascent is long.
  • Only for Experienced: 1,300 meters altitude is no stroll. Hiking boots, long-sleeved top and underwering, rain jacket, plenty of water.
  • Gewitter: Often by 13 am in the heat of summer – the exposed hut location offers no protection. Timing is critical.
  • Worth it for two days: Ascent Day 1, summit tour Day 2, descent Day 3 – the ideal Innsbrucker Hut program.

The Innsbrucker Hut is for people who really want to get to know Stubaital. Not the glacier from the cable car, not the alm terrace from the cable car – but real high mountains, deserved with every meter of altitude.
